Not the Americans that's for sure..They have no team spirit in their golf teams. Woods being the main non contender :D
Much of what you say is true of past US teams, and we'll see about this team. I think you'll see plenty of team spirit on the US side this time around (though they are in large measure a bunch of prima donna's with El Tigre atop that list as you noted). It's easy to exude team spirit when you are crushing an inferior opponent. I mean,that's just good clean fun. (Obvious sarcasm to generate friendly across the pond wager...). :-)
Anyone going to attend the Ryder Cup? If so, perhaps we could get a game together (some day other than Tuesday, Saturday and Sunday for obvious reason).
This will be my first Ryder Cup (hopefully not my last) and I am getting pretty jazzed already...I'm a little worried that it will be difficult to watch in person since so few holes are in play at any given time and so many people will be there. Any truth to that? If so, I might prefer to watch it at home at least some (especially if it's shown in hi-def).
No it should be 18 holes full up apart from the start and end of each day.
Will be very busy though, but I tend to get there early, pick a player and follow him for 9-18 holes. Then find a good spot and sit for the remainder of the day and watch everone in the field come through (that way you get to see the whole course and a lot of different players)
The stands are packed as are the tees. I liek to pick a medium hole like 10-16 and wtach where the average drive lands and sit there.
Chnaces are it will be about 80-160 yeards from the green so it will eb clear and you can see approcahes, and puts.
On teh final day, some middle holes were clear around the green until a big name turns up.
Worth getting there (to the chosen hole)half an hour before any players arrive and secure your seat.

With only 20 players on the course in the match play events (Friday, Saturday) playing as foursomes (in two-man teams) I assumed there would only be 5 holes in play at any given time....so I figured those holes would be packed with about 7 to 10 thousand people...

As for cameras - all European tour events have a pro-am the day before and your allowed to take pictures. I am going to Woburn in september for that purpose (did think about enetering as an amature but chickened out)

I would love to see a Ryder Cup. Heck, I'd like to see any pro golf event.
Luckily, there are PGA Tour and Senior PGA Tour events within 30 miles of my house each year (Buick Open and Ford Senior Players Championship, respectively). And this year's Ryder Cup is very much closer than that...can't pass that up. :-)

Good times I'm sure. Tell me you didn't take an 8 at the par-3 9th on the Dukes course! :-0. I'm very fortunate to have the opportunity to play Oakland Hills fairly often - and I agree the history/legends who have played there add to the experience. And I think it will add to my Ryder Cup enjoyment since I know the ins and outs of the course, etc.
I have never played in a pro-am. Hope to one day. For now, the outrageous expense of a PGA Tour Pro-am is not worth it to me. If you have the opportunity, I say go for it....rest assured that whatever pro you play with will have played with far worse golfers (the nature of such pro-ams).
I would love to be their but its a bit far from oz, make sure you post some pics of the practice rounds.
I hope one day they have a Pacific cup and then we could show you some real team spirit. At the moment we have a few young Australians climbing up the PGA ladder so the future looks bright, enjoy the golf, iam so jealous.
