So I am going to sell my beautifully pristine Nikkor 17-55 2.8mm. I have only used it about 5x. I really trend towards sports, and the 300 2.8 is not in my budget. I have looked at this lens a number of times and think it would be a great lens. The only complaints I've heard about it are it heavy(which is a Sigma thing) and that the focus speed is not as fast as some would like. With that being said, I would love this lens if it were in my budget, so I say go ahead and get the thing.
So, I just ordered the 120-400 used sigma at $669.00, I am going to try it, and If I dont like it send it back. By then I will have an offer on the 17-55, and between both maybe ugrade to the 300 f4 Nikon
So, I have used this lens for two games now. Both days were cloudy and overcast with fog. I LOVE the range, but the lens has some lag. It might be great for slower sports (discus/shot put), but baseball, softball, etc. on cloudy days it is NOT fast enough. I will be sending it back on Tuesday when Adorama opens up again, and seeing what else to try.
Adorama has a GREAT return policy. They even suggested I could use it, and send it back.. They are paying all the shipping. cost
