paulbtlw I sold my Canon 7D to MPB Photographic in Brighton.
They were really excellent in every way and would not hesitate to recommend them.

Agreed. They are very good and the best prices on second hand stuff i've found in the UK. I recently part exchanged my Nikon 24-70mm 2.8 along with a few other bits for a mint Nikon d700. It's an excellent lens but not really my style. I also got my Nikon 85mmm 1.4 from them a year or so ago.

The other shop i use is Ffordes who i like for older, manual focus lenses. Just the last couple of days i got a Nikon 50mm 1.4 ais from them very cheap as it had a damaged filter thread which i don't mind at all as i rarely use filters.

Thanks for the heads up Neil. I am seriously considering getting rid of my 7D and a few lenses. How was the transaction carried out?

Speaking for myself i found the transaction very smooth. I emailed them a list of my equipment and they replied with a provisional price based on what condition i'd stated. They then sent a courier to collect it and replied with their price a couple of day later. I got the camera in exchange by courier the next day. Splendid service i thought.

You'll get the best deal using Ffordes commission sales - they give you 80% of the sale price once the equipment is sold, this nets you more money than selling the equipment to a reseller. You obviously have to wait for your equipment to sell to get your money.
