I thought I had a great photo for the feet challenge..But
I guess I thought wrong.Here is one comment..(Well-done picture with a Jeffrey Dahmer twist. You'll lose points with some people for such a macabre image, but not with me! Too bad I can't vote on it)Why do people have to look at part of the photo and not take the whole photo as one.It may be gross to do this yourself (as some have said in comments)but it is really not.Topic for Challenge is FEET (Take a picture that has feet in it. Be creative and original!)Mine is very on topic...and creative in it's own way.Why do people look down on creativity.
Because it upsets their narrow view of the world? Because their idea of art is too traditional to recognize anything outside a very set boundary?
Who knows! Creativity is different for everybody and one individual's view of it will be dramatically different from person to person.
Don't let exposure of your work to one venue (i.e. DPC) alter your artisitc direction. Take it with a grain of salt. After all, I've been surprised many times at photos that have done well here and photos that I thought should have done much better. Haven't you?
Hey dont feel bad, In the Blue Moon challenge someone commented "Beer is bad" and proceded to give me a 1. Its just the way this site works, some people just vote for other reasons other than photographic creativity!
Maybe they look down on creativity, but they don't look down on feet. That's their problem, unless they have a feet fetish!

I'm ok...it just shocked me that people would comment not on the photo in general...but the way it is set up...ya know....lol take this for example.say the challenge was (LIFE) and soemone had a photo of a baby just born..still messy...ya know ..it may be a grose but it's a beautiful thing.you take the challenge topic...and look at the photo and say...hey...this is a great photo.I look at a photo in whole..not in parts.

b) talking about it now can bring added downers, even if your intention was to enlighten people, not only to your photo but to others similar to it.
I realize I may be reading into your 'description' as posted by the commenter, but if I am, perhaps others will and then be able to decipher which is yours.
Discussions such as these, although welcome after challenges have ended, can end up with a negative effect on the submissions being voted on.
I said it before and I say it again, if it's not a shiny happy greeting card material, if it doesnt have the "haha cute" factor (forget about the wow factor) it's best to not hope for much on this site.

Chin up! If you like your own shot than you should need to be validated here. I have submitted A LOT of fotos that I LOVED that scored below 5. I could care less. I like the direction my fotography is going in & that it is taking me... I cant expect anyone else to feel the same way as me.
If you wanna please the masses, i.e. voters, than be prepared to submit a shot that you may like less but that others may like more. Either way, you'll do just fine by me!
As for the voters having bad taste... I'm not sure that is fair to say. I'm a voter, you're a voter... you see. Subjective perspective... that's what it's all about. You can;t please everyone! Even the best fotos & the ones that win ribbons (notice the differential between the 2) get 1s, 2s & 3s.

And sometimes it's not that people don't "get" creativity - sometimes it's just that they don't LIKE your particular creation. Not saying that's the case here but... just because something's creative doesn't automatically mean it's good.

just wanted to ask a simple question and it turned into a thread of wasted space on this server.
No worries, I was just saying that since Karen had not yet looked at the entries for the challenge she couldn't be sure how well the comment you shared would or wouldn't allow someone to guess your image...
I know it's frustrating to be receiving low scores on an image you thought would do better (my Feet entry is at 5.2) and it's the easiest thing to try and look for excuses or blame the voters for not getting it but surely what we enter our images here at dpc for is to find out how voters here at dpc feel about them?
