Thumb is supposed to be pretty good. There are bunches of reviews of the software keyboards for Android on YouTube. Many are free and a few are pay, but cheap. Some offer split keyboards, etc. :) I'm going to install one, but have to find the review I saw and then get the software from Market er, Google Play. *rolls eyes*
I like Thumb Keyboard for the tablet. The predictions aren't as good as Swiftkey, but I like that Thumb has the smaller layout option. I can hold the tablet in my left hand and condense the keyboard into the bottom right corner to type quickly with one hand.
Off topic, perhaps, but since OP has resolved his question, I'll ask: what android tablets are you using and how do you like them? I have a Fire, and I do like it but I think I'd want a bigger tab for web browsing.

i have the 10.1" Toshiba thrive i think we only paid like $300 or so for the 16gb version it right before Christmas. its not the thinnest form factor but it works for us. i opted for that over a zoom or galaxy for the point that it takes sd cards to expand the storage. we use it as a kid occupier when we go out so the expandable media was a big selling point since media files are huge.
personally i think android is a terrible OS, the market place is a mish mash of tablet apps and phones apps, the phone apps scale up ok, but its weird seeing such a waste of real estate. it would be nice if they separated the two marketplaces.
my wife loves it, she uses it for class, she bought a $15 tablet pen and can take notes right on the pdf handouts that they give out. it actually works surprising well.
for me its just a web browsing device, for which it flat out sucks. i only only becuase im not at my pc and it convenient. the web pages are half the time the mobile version and you cant switch unless you the website itself provides the option. many drop downs don't work, for instance like those on dpc.
i much prefer to use my windows phone even though the screen is less than half the size. i have never used an ipad but i imagine its much better than android.

When we had T-Mobile service, I got the Galaxy Tab. Should have waited, but, it was only $200 at the time. Now, I'm kicking myself for getting that one, as it doesn't accept SD cards. Shame.
It's a kids toy now, my boys play their video games on it. Oh well... Expensive toy for the kiddos, I guess. LOL
when the ipad first came people joked that it was a bigger iPhone without the phone. i cant speak if they were right, but that's exactly what the android tablets are.
