Yeah they dropped the price which is nice but I read they didn't add anything from the beta.... 1/2 price for 1/2 functionality on video grading I guess is fair :-/ The rest looks interesting.... so worth the upgrade for me.
Rockin! I'm just going to hang back for a couple weeks to see if there are any major glitches (the beta was a little buggy for me, and it was a *short* beta). I like the direction they went with updates to the Develop module. I'd have really liked GPU acceleration, but that was not to be.
I just got the upgrade, i really like the beta and i find that now i no longer have to use Viveza for local adjustments, shadow and highlight recovery are greatly improved, a well worth upgrade in my opinion
Well, I said I would wait a while, but WTF, I can always migrate back. I'm now running Lr4 as my "production" tool. One thing I discovered, luckily before I tried to load it, is that I can't upgrade my work laptop. Lr 4 does not support WinXP, period. This may be an important consideration for some folks (not so much for me, I'll just keep 3.6 on that machine for now).
Two things to note:
1) You can upgrade from any version of lightroom to lightroom 4. I.E. LR 1.x, 2.x, or 3.x.
2)If you purchased LR 3 after 2/6/2012 you should be eligible for a free upgrade to LR 4.
I ordered LR 3 through B&H for $69 a couple weeks ago, currently I have filed a claim to get the free upgrade to LR 4. If it goes through(just need to verify proof of purchase), I will have saved a little cash instead of having to upgrade from LR 2!
Not sure if you guys know BUT if you have bought Lightroom 3 after Feb/22 then you are eligible for free upgrade to Lightroom 4. As per the upgrade policy if a person bought a lower version and with in one month if Adobe release higher version then person is eligible for free upgrade.
Same price, but you get a free 8GB SD card, plus physical media for backup.
I've found that buying from the Adobe store however has the advantage of downloading whenever you need it later...plus easy proof of ownership (I had to have them reset my Photoshop CS activations once, because it would not let me activate a second computer, even though I should have been able to since I deactivated the one on my older computer).
Curious what others think or have experienced buying from Adobe versus third parties.

Do you know if the final version imports and converts Lightroom 3 catalogs now? The beta would not, but I presume the final does...

Yes, the catalog functions are fine, it's just the edit in option that doesn't function at the moment, well that's what I've spotted so far.
Those of you who have Lr4, how do you get your files from the new processing engine into Photoshop CS5?
I like using Lr3 instead of ACR because of its easier interface, then I save the metadata to the file and (usually) open as a raw smart object in Ps with all those changes brought over from Lr in the xmp sidecar file.
But the old ACR isn't going to recognize the new process, correct?
Also, does this mean we have to upgrade to CS6 to get ACR 7.0, or are they going to let CS5 owners upgrade Camera Raw for free?

I assume but I'm not sure that your ACR process would need to be "equivalent or newer" than the version being used by your Lr installation in order to be recognized. I believe there is a release candidate currently out for a new ACR version for Ps, and I would hope that it would support the Lr 4 as-released process.

This is another problem that they are looking into, at the moment it's solved by downloading the trial version of CS6, you don't have to use it.

I sympathize with Adobe a little... you don't want to be stuck developing multiple forks of your latest conversion engine for different versions of your software. You want to develop for the latest version and that's that. Now, that said, they could at least try to support one version back for some period of time, especialy given the frequency with which ACR is updated.
