Traded in an old lens for some store credit at Adorama. I'm willing to toss out a little money on top of this, but I'm really not sure what I'd like to get (obviously, probably a sign I shouldn't be buying anything...feel free to reiterate this should you agree).
I'm interested in photojournalism, primarily, in my future, but I enjoy portraiture, street, and working with a variety of lighting techniques, since I'm an amateur and like to learn.
Here are some things I'm interested in:
Canon 85mm f/1.8
Canon 50mm f/1.4 (I have the f/1.8)
Another strobe
Another light stand/umbrella setup for my 430 EX to go along with the stand/umbrella (43") I have and use with my 580EX
PocketWizard Plus III when it comes out
Reflector
I dunno. I wish I did. I wish that with that $130 store credit, I could hire a professional photographer from Adorama to come and hang out with me for a while and give me some tips. Oh well.

David Hobby (Strobist) and/or Joe McNally's (NumNuts) DVD? The strobist one is great and EXACTLY like a pro hanging out while talking thru what he is doing.

I know, I've seen the images it can produce and I think I'd like to have it, but I'm worried it won't get as much use as I'd like. I dunno. I'd really like to have a "quality" prime in my bag. The nifty fifty produces some good stuff, but we all know it's not the best piece of kit.
i have the 85 its lovely but rarely gets used, i should use it more but i always make life easier and use my 28-70 or 70-200, i use the 85 shooting at gigs and in dark places and its great but the 80cm focusing distance can be a problem sometimes, i'd like the 50mm 1.4 i think.
as for learning ive found the snap factory guy on youtube to be a great help slowly working my way through his stuff
so i think maybe the light stands and modifiers because mastering light is a god thing t learn and the more tools in your arsenal the better
shot wit the 85, 2 speedlights with pocket wizards and shoot through umbrella and mini softbox they were much more important than the lens as i got some with my 28-70l almost as sharp
i bought the yn560 of amazon for £50 its a limmited copy of the 580ex but it makes a perfect second flash, im going to get another two i think s ive got 4 speedlights that might be a way to go

Thanks, bud. It's hard to make a decision, but every time and go out and shoot with strobes I'm always saying to myself, "Wow, this would be much more convenient with a slightly better lighting setup, or this wouldn't be [impossible[/i] if I didn't have a slightly better lighting setup, haha"
I think the 85 is a rental item, honestly. I just can't see using it that much, and I have the 24-70 f/2.8. I hear it's sharp ;)
