So last night I moved into my little studio for when I need it. When looking for a place I decided how small I could go, and how big my budget was. I'm doing my first shoot tonight and after setting up last night I'm questioning myself if it's big enough.
My space is 25x23 and after setting up the background and lights to run a few test shots last night I'm questioning if I'm big enough.
So tell me how big is your space, and how big do you need it to be?
I can tell I'm going to have to limit what I do in there.
I,m half way there with mine its 10x18 very small compared too yours i actually had 2 rooms that wasnt used so i was hoping too put it too good use i only need too put floors in and paint it not sure how much i can do with such a small area ..what are your walls painted with any special color or just white?..
i use a friend of mine's space when i need it and it's killer. the shooting area is 25'x20' x20' tall with 25'x15' work area. with the two levels of risers he has, we could a shoot group of 25 people comfortably.
it even has a rollup garage door, allowing us room to bring in a car...
Ceilings are only 8 foot. I plan to rent here for 6 months then move to bigger space.
Yeah, that's what I was afraid of. Here's the thing of it; with the low ceilings more horizontal space really won't help much. So just learn to cope with what you have until you can move up to at LEAST 12 foot ceilings, preferably 20...
A couple from tonight. I wanted to make sure I could keep a black background. And I could. I actually added a small light to these to lighten it up and give some separation. I'm going to have to limit what I do in here. But already have in the works moving to an area with 18 foot ceilings and is 1500 square foot, but that can't happen until August when it becomes available.

They came up very good matt you should be happy with that.
Mines 12 x 15, also with 8 foot ceilings. There are times I feel really cramped, and others where it's just right. It's also got a nice studio configuration with somewhat rustic walls and in-swinging sash winows, so I can shoot with and without backdrops, depending what I want. More than anything I miss the height, which I had to work around with my New Year image :-)
