The outtake layered three shots in PS..one a long exposure to get the blur, the other two to get static images. The technique is illegal so I had to re-do the shot using a single exposure...in a dark room I used a handheld flash twice to get the static bits, and to get the blur I light-painted the edge of the turntable.
I couldn't quite duplicate the outtake, which I think is much better.
Usually, a turntable photo has is focused on the stylus. I wanted the focus to be the rim, which is half-blurred and half static. Like music. Dynamic and immediate.
I actually liked my outtake better but in it you can see the rubber coathanger aid on my top peeking through my hair, plus my right eye is a bit darker.
