I am of the belief that we are here to learn to make better pictures. I also believe that one of the best ways to learn is by looking at pictures. We learn by looking at good pictures and we learn by looking at bad pictures.
It would then follow that all members who submit an entry should be required to vote on all images. Further, I think, that for all those votes to count there must at least be a 10 percent amoint of comments to validate the entire package. I would like 20 percent, but some members may be too busy.
The added benefit is that each picture will be viewed, because the formula of 20 percent is not very reliable mathematically to present the best outcome. While the images are presented in random order there is a lways the chance that many will go unnoticed by many viewers.
This will certainly raise the quality level simply because the members are seeing more images and therefore learning the problem solving end of the presentation. I do not mean that we will figure how it was done, but that it helps raise the bar in our understanding of goals we wish to achieve. When you look, you see presentations and in all challenges there are usually exceptional photographs. We see the use of technique and after seeing a sizable collection it loads the subconscious with greater potential. |
