Thanks for the replies so far. I think you've convinced me that I'd rather have the 5D even though it means I need to save a bit more, which means more time without a camera. :( Hopefully by the end of February I'll have enough. Been reading a lot on the benefits of full frame since I posted this initially.
One more question I had though, does the sensor size have any effect on focus speed? From what I've been reading, since the "pixels" on the FF sensor are bigger, they gather light easier than a crop would, (in the same way a bigger telescope gathers more light than a smaller one) which is why you get better high iso/less noise on a full frame. So I'm wondering if that would also make a lens focus better in low light. My 50 1.8 seems to hunt forever on the 20D in low light, which is why I wanted to upgrade it to the 1.4 with USM. So I'm wondering if the 5D would be better, or if the focusing is purely in the lens itself? |
