seriously, i thought it was a pretty good shot but never expected it to go above the very low 6's at best, being a cat pic.
also want to give a special thanks to swordandscales and brucedgates, admitted cat non-lovers, for reaching down deep and being honest with their comments. that means a lot. :-)
Personally, I LOVE cat's, but that wasn't why I gave you a 9. It's a very good shot, very engaging, I love the tones, and it fits the challenge perfectly. I'm not really sure why I didn't give it a 10, to be honest!

I admit, was surprised to see it at the top of the heap. Not because it isn't good. It's really god, and I voted it as such. I did ass-u-me it would not get high votes from non-pet folks.
I think what really made it special was the light, and the post-processing. It has a warm, comforting *feel* to it, which compliments the cat's pose, and the username goes purr-fectly with it.

Well, I will tell you why I gave you a good rating, being an admitted non-cat lover. I like animals of all sorts, but what kills me about is the constant inclusion of cats in these challenges is a couple of things:
1) A pattern of blatant shoehorning in some cases.
2) Just a general air of laziness about taking a picture of cat on a couch. This is DPChallenge, not DPCatonaCouch or DPNoneedtothinkoutsidetheboxbecausethisis2012andeveryoneisaphotographer.
So, what I loved about your image, is that it is obviously not lazy...it's very well prepared, and gorgeously lit. Pose is good, the pillow adds a great deal to it. Fundamentally, it's a good image.
To top it off, you actually posted it appropriately! It meets the challenge, and your title. GROUNDBREAKING CONCEPT!
Anyway. I really did like your image. Few cats have fared well since then. :/

This is so AWFUL I puked in my lap. I must be stupid. The only reason you get a 1 is because I can't give out a negative score. I showed it to my cat, she puked too. My kid ran away screaming with his eyes covered. YUCK! I don't dare show this to my wife. You really need to keep this awful stuff to yourself.
