Last night I set up my first show in Saratoga, NY at "Uncommon Grounds"

If not, here's some photos...it's a very big place...I hung 27 canvases and it took me almost 2 1/2 hours to hang what I did. I didn't bring in everything...in retrospect, I should have used the "green room" for something different, like my flower abstracts. I had them in the car but didn't hang any.
I could have put more up (you'll see a shot by itself on a wall), but I was really running out of time, they closed at 11 and I was there until midnight. They were just about done cleaning up when I left.
I've shown at two different Starbucks, a total of four times. They don't sell for you...you only get a sign with your URL up. I've definitely generated some traffic from that, I don't think they generated any sales, but it's possible.
I've shown at another coffee house in Albany; they sold one off the wall. That's what Uncommon Grounds wants to do as well, but I have a problem with that...the photos I hang...well, most of them...are samples. Besides being more expensive, I've built up my canvas print collection for showing, which I though samples were fine...just doesn't work off the wall.
UC also wants to sell off the wall. And I didn't have time to mark the ones they could, but I'll have to send them an email or go back and "star them". They are all priced though, and my cards are there too. I didn't put my URL on the info sheets because their instructions were that they want to negotiate all sales. But they did let me leave my sign and cards.
Those look great, Neil. Are they all printed on canvas?
Yes. I am thinking about building up a set of framed prints too that I can show. I have a dozen or so now, but I need at least 30 for a show. I have over 40 canvas prints now.
Did I miss you moving to upstate NY? Are you going to later hit the trifecta of places Achoo has lived on the East Coast? (Pittsburgh...Albany...Virginia Beach?)

Well I've been here in the Capital District (Albany/Schenectady/Troy) since I came here for graduate school in 1976...since you were a lad of about 5 ;)
Never lived in Pittsburgh, but we did go to a wedding there a year ago, and you might be thinking of my posts about that. I grew up in Gary, Indiana, like the song (and the Jacksons).
And I'm not planning a move to Virginia Beach, but I'd love to move to Oregon for the beautiful scenery! (but my wife says no!) (And as you may recall, my sister lives there!)

I agree with you that the green room would have served well for another of your great series, your flower abstracts. You definitely ought to be showing that work as well.

What a great job of hanging your photos .. you balanced them so pleasingly to the eye .. nice to have these shots to show your work in situ as well .. I hope you do very well in getting your name out there and hopefully getting a gallery showing as for sure your work is stellar.

The lighting in the "green room" was better, but oh, the color! Starbucks at least had track lighting for the walls.
Now I need to book another show there in August...that's when all the RICH people come to Saratoga (for the race track).
One of the exhibitions I've attended had paintings that were nice, but were really made magnificent by the lighting. I'm not saying they weren't nice originally, but I think so much of the "experience" and feel was dictated by the light that it's one of the first things I notice these days. Up until then, I had never really put much thought into selective lighting for the product AFTER the fact.
On the bright side, the color of that room sorta matches your work, which often has a very warming feel about it, be it in the entire image or just a portion of the whole, something that feels warm, comforting, and that's exactly how that room is set up.
