How big is your studio space? Even 400 may be too much in a small place. As for picture quality it's goin to be down to how you use the lights rather than which lights you get.

It isn't really what you asked for, but there is an old thread comparing 300w/600w that might be helpful.
My favorite strobe users on the site are H2 and LVicari check out their setups and output for their styles. They are both pretty helpful guys, you could shoot them a PM.
