really couldnt decide which to enter, so i have lotsa rejects. i'm definitely gonna regret my decision. anyhow, can i post up photos for discussion (so long as they have different subject to my submission) or should i wait til voting is over...?
here they are..... hope its ok that some of them are similar to other people's submissions (though bear no resemblance to mine)
they haven't all been tweaked in PS, so some mighta been cropped/sharpened etc a little. oh, and i think they've been compressed so this may affect quality.

wine glass: I like the idea, but for me the crop is too tight on the glass and shadow, also, the coloring is a bit drab, probably could have used more light or a different white balance or exposure.
salt and pepper: the lighting seems a bit too dark, and the crop (cutting part of the peppermill) seems a bit too tight.
wine from above: is an interesting abstract, but it's a bit out of focus / hand shake. probably wouldn't do too well in the challenge because it's hard to make out as an object.
wine glasses: i like the composition, but it seems a bit dark.
screw: this is my favorite, but again there is a bit of a focus issue. while i generally like a shallow DoF, it seems a bit too shallow for this shot. also, the focal point seems a bit behind the head, maybe this shallow a DoF would work better if the head was in the sharpest focus.
My favorites are the screw, frog, and wine glasses. Too bad all of them are a bit pixellated. Why is that? They are definitely not overcompressed. Screw, for instance, is over 200KB, while it should look acceptable at 60KB or so. Did you use digital zoom, or something?
The screw has beautiful even lighting, good exposure, hard to get with a white background sometimes. If you can fix the pixellation, it will be 100 times better. 8-)
I see these images are hosted by photobucket, I also have an account there and they do not allow images over 250kb, so maybe they resized the screw image and made it a bit out of whack. Another thing with the screw photo could be the JPEG compression levels. I think the remote control is the best overall photo with good focus, DOF, and lighting although it also has pixelation issues. :)
