Since we are all somewhat settled on DNMC'ing as a valid weapon, and these threads are looked at as "defining the challenge guidelines," may I suggest the following unofficial guidelines for entry and voting, and heed them or disregard them at your leisure...
1. Poe refers to the poet, not any bad rock band of the same name.
2. Use onomatopoeia at your own peril, you may get dnmc'd.
3. Use of a raven is thoroughly discouraged as being played out before it even happens.
4. its not "Ethan Allen Poe" - so don't enter any shots of fine furniture.
5. and finally, unless you are a really artsy person, do not put quotes around a passage from a short story and/or poem and call that your title.

(I just realized, Most might not get this: Blue Falcon, a US military phrase. It is a reference to the acronym BF which stands for "Buddy F#*ker") As in someone who jeapordizes his friend to benefit himself...
I hope folks know that Poe was not just about scary stories. Many of his best works were not at all scary and some were actually quite uplifting. The challenge isn't "Edger Allen Poe (after his cousin died)"...

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I don't believe Poe wrote any of the Saw movies. Dread, despair, pessimism, fright and the clarity of madness are the mood of Poe. Buckets of blood and festoons of entrails are not really his cup of tea.

This is essentially true, but Poe's "The Pit and the Pendulum" is certainly the core model, the godfather as it were, of the original "Saw".
Hopefully some will make the effort and actually enter pics of ravens for the inevitable 'Nevermore' shots. Not crows, not magpies, but actual ravens. (note to UK members...I believe rooks are what we call ravens, correct?) Yes crows and ravens are both corvids, but there are still considerable differences between them.

I will be sure to stop and ask the bird if it is a raven or a crow before I shoot it!!! Somebody hand me a gun....puh-lease!!!!! Technically, since ravens belong to the crow (corvus) family of birds, they can be called crows.
yeah i was under the impression that ravens are just really really big crows that croak like a frog.
Apparently crows are the size of pigeons whilst raven are the size of hawks. And their calls are different. Based on this, we only have ravens where we live but their calls are quite different to what they are meant to be. For all I know they could have crossed with one another and the result is what we have residing in this area. So call it a crow or call it a raven...whatever...but my cat still reckons they taste the same!!!!
