I don't like to complain, I don't like to say that my images are great, I don't think I'm the best photographers in the world, but this time I need to share my disappointment:
Both have been rejected and with very silly explanation. Do you think that a moon too big can be a problem in this shot. They say it's unrealistic... well what is realistic in this image?!
Well, actually, I agree with them: for me, the inclusion of the (obviously) fake moon was a glaring flaw in an otherwise fabulous image. Personally, I think it'd be better without the moon. You could resubmit it that way and see what happens...
In my view these two images are not up to 1x.com standard its as simple as that.
I like them and realise that a lot of work went into them but think my sentence above to be the case.
I have never had anything excepted by them and doubt I ever will really,if that is the case then I will just except it.
Have you had work accepted by them yet ? as I believe once you have it gets easier for the future.

Just curious about what they said about Dawn of the Dead. I would think this image would be up to their standards, but wondering if the long exposure and the subsequent unsharpness of the figures was what they rejected it for. Its a fabulous image, and you should be proud of it despite what 1x thinks.
I've seen a lot of outstanding images rejected by 1x that I would have thought were good enough. I've seen some other shots on 1x that I thought average and made me ask why they picked it. I think its simply the issue of personal preferences of the curators at 1x. Where on DPC you are dealing with the personal preferences of the masses, on 1x you are dealing with the preferences of just a handful of people, often just one off them.
Dawn of the dead is a great image imho. My guess is that it would have had a better chance with a different process, something more attune with the mood of the pictures, gloomy, less colorful and somewhat grainy; perhaps something along the lines of these:

Ha. I wouldn't worry too much about 1x. Your photos are good. Who cares if a few reviewers on 1x doesn't lIke them.
I'm not worried about it. Just thinking about their silly explanations of what is good and what is not.
Here is what one of the three curators said (the other said that the image was great):
•I like the concept quite a bit but it seems mixed to me. I\'m going to assume the people are supposed to be zombies. I would expect two ways to go with this theme. Either death should be pointing and directing these zombies. In that case the water does not look like an appropriate location, perhaps a deserted or abandoned area. Or death is merely collecting souls and these are not zombies. In that case I would expect the people to be facing out to the water and stiffly heading off to the netherworld. Great concept but needs to be more sensible in meaning for me. Also there is a small distracting dot on the left horizon.
Thay have outstanding images there but also 'normal' images. I can live without them, but I was wondering why they always search for strange explanations on my images :)

I doubt that detailed explanation was from the curators. My understanding is the curators generally reject an image with no explanation. All I've ever gotten from them was "This photo was not selected for the 1x gallery at this time."
Ocassionally, if they feel a photo may have 1x potential, the curators will submit a photo to the 1x community for voting and comments, after which they will revisit the shot and make their decision.Out of 9 submissions I have made at 1x, I have received 3 comments total, across two images, both of which were ribbon winners here on DPC. Nothing accepted, however.
