i found if your happy with 6x4 photos the hp photosmart 130 is great, its very small ,portable and prints directly of media cards so no need to have it connected to the computer (but you still can via usb)
I seldom print pictures on my own Canon BJC-6000; I think that it works just as well as most available printers. However, if I really want a good print, I send the file to a commercial printing office. Then I get a professional result of a durable nature.
I also have the 7350 and love it. I like using the memory card slots since I have three diff. cameras that take three diff. cards. I don't need tons of cables all over. It seems to print with very accurate colors. I had bought an Epson but I could not get it to print the right colors and it was SO noisy!
I got mine in Costco and it was only $135 after the rebates. Now it's selling for about $160 after rebates.
Any Epson Stylus Photo. I use a 780 that I bought for $50 that blows away any of the output I've seen from an HP printer.
In general go for a 6 ink or 7 ink printer and you'll get much better skin tones and other graduated textures. Epson seem to be pretty good, though
people report clogging problems, which mostly seem to be through mis-use, from news group discussions (so take that for what it is worth)
If you really want to have fun with printing pictures, try a dye sublimation printer rather than an ink jet.
I own the Olympus P400 and I strongly recommend it for someone interested in just printing photography. It is not meant for word processing, so it will not meet everyone’s needs. But, the results are truly outstanding and rival traditional silver-halide printing. Recently, Kodak also introduced a lower cost dye sub, so it may also be an option. I am not knowledgeable about the Kodak, but maybe someone else can offer a recommendation. Continuous tone printers do offer incredible results compared to printers designed to create half tone, dot-based images.
