The ESA/ESO/NASA Photoshop FITS Liberator plug-in for Adobe® PhotoShop® has just been made available for free download here. This software allows mere mortals like you & I to process images stored in the FITS format (the format used for all the research imges acquired by Hubble over the years). Essentially, you can drag FITS images out of the library, and process them at home to create your own composite images from the individually-acquired color channels.
