Hi guys!
Some of you know that this summer I worked as a Camp Photographer, capturing pictures of the children every day for their worried parents at home to see. Due to the nature of the job, it was more of a quantity rather than a quality picture job. Parents wanted to see their children and didn't necessarily care in what way.
That being said, I did take some photos I was quite happy with.
Out of the 30,008 pictures I took this summer, I uploaded 128 photos for my personal keepsake.

Mainly these are just memories, but I was also planning on putting some up into my portfolio.
The problem is which ones? A picture that I considered a success this summer does not necessarily equate into a beautiful photograph that anybody would like to see. The general public and other photographers don't care about some other child's smiling face, and they also don't care about some game or tradition common to some random camp.
So I was wondering if some of you would be willing to glance through these pictures and tell me if any of them are good enough to actually make it into a photographer's portfolio, and if so, which ones?
Feel free to be harsh. If there are none, say so. I already know that the camp was extremely happy with the pictures I took, so I can take it ;-)
Just took a quick look. There are plenty of wonderful shots here. I will take a 2nd look after I get some sleep and let you know which IMO are the best.
PS: You would be surprised how a child's smiling face could make someone get a job over someone else.
It's pretty late for me, but looking at your pics, I do like the "action" shots. There were a few that were not action, but captured a nice moment of the camper or between campers. Here's a quick list of some that I liked: 9, 19, 31, 57, 65, 71, 72, 76, 88, 100 (nice scenery), and 122. I'm too tired at the moment to give details, but those are shots that struck me...
I will admit I love all of them. They're all so much fun but trying to sift through them turned into a choice between what you love from the heart or what you think is more appropriate.

And I am really happy to hear that you don't think they are just snapshots.
Its been hard for me to judge because I tend to love some of the pictures just because that was a particularly fun day or a particularly fun kid...or sometimes a particularly shy reclusive kid that I FINALLY managed to capture a smile from.
So I love hearing more objective opinions from you guys, that actually look at the photographic merit rather than my emotions :-)
ETA: looking through the images you are pointing out, they pretty much line up with my favorites, so I guess I am not so totally subjective and unreasonable afterall ;-)
Great stuff, my favorite photography is event capture, to catch the moment. You did an outstanding job of that, and made a fantastic photo journal of the camp and its experience. I have a feeling they will have many new campers if they use your work as an advertisement campaign. I think the best are obvious, mainly you got caught with strong sun in front a few times when you missed. I really liked the face painters, the rainbow haired gorilla archer, and the pool diving tricycles.
If you are in a down mood, looking at those happy smiling faces should brighten anyones day. Wonderful images!
