I don't like the idea of registering to yet another data harvesting company giving away my email and other personal details. Especially not Microsoft Passport.
Would it be possible to use a "real" IRC chat? I know a web chat is easier for people not being familar with the internet or computers in general. People find IRC is a bit more complicated at first because you have to install a seperate client program (well, there are even webbased Java IRC clients out there) but it is really not.
I would be willing to write a short description how to connect to the IRC if that helps.

IRC has no cute smileys and your firewall at work won't let you in it... lol
Dpcfanatics doesn't harvest and/or sell user info. To register for the chat you must enter info into a form that was programmed into the html-based chat script that we use. We would probably delete the required fields from the registration form...but the chat code is obfuscated (or some hackerish word meaning messed up). Feel free to give bogus info...we have absolutely no use for your e-mail address. We do, however, prefer that you login using your dpc username. :)

Froober, my critisism wasn't directed to the fanatics chat but to the critique club chat at MSN. Sorry for not being specific.
However, I still do like IRC more than any webchats. "But that's just me" ;-) No big deal.
Hmm... maybe I should start up a DPC MUD for the old skool'ers out there? :o)
Now this is a great idea! For such a MUD I even would start mudding again ;-) I already can see my char there... Level 1 ("lens cleaner") of the blurry-photos-are-cool guild. And imagine what nice photos we could make there. Granted, nobody could actually see them and it would take two pages of text to describe the breathtaking beauty, but hey, that's old skool :-)
Forgive me if this sounds over-simplified. Chatting is like having a conference call with your fingers...everything is live and immediate. Even better, no permanent record of what you say is kept...so if you say something dumb...everyone will forget in a day :P You also have the luxury of communicating privately (one on one) with others.
