Well I noticed the description for this challenge is rather vague in that it doesn't really state that the window needs to be in your home. Would one be unnecessarily holding them self back by insisting the window be in their home? Would it be bad form to just pick any window you like anywhere and shoot through it?

I have assumed any window but since the frame does not need to be visible it is to me an FS in Minimal Editing. BUT knowing the DPC trolls including a bit of the window in the shot would probably help the score. I really don't like Minimal so I am giving this challenge a total miss.
My favorite window is not a window in my house. I strongly favor liberal interpretations of challenge descriptions. I'll participate in this challenge, but the current culture at DPC is "narrow minded" interpretation of challenges. Scores are less important to me than effort applied to the photography.

What does 'customizable' mean? Are sliding sharpeners legal?
considering im going to be spending the next week outdoors as much as possible, the timing of the challenge stinks. Then again the timing of all the challenges usually stinks :)

I have some ideas, but the more I think about the minimal editing rule set the more I think I will give this one a pass. If you don't have a full time job these straight out of camera challenges can possibly be a fun learning experience. For those with limited free time, the extra time required to shoot well this way just isn't worth it. I think so anyway...
My favorite window is definitely not in my house. I knew exactly which window I wanted to shoot when I saw the challenge. But minimal editing might make it beyond my capabilities. Too much of a difference inside and out. I'll definitely try it anyway -- I just doubt my capabilities.

agree, i find that editing is essential to digital photography, and i understand why we have these challenges, but the more i get into this hobby the less i hate to be restricted in my editing.
That was my thought as well. The exposure differences may be a problem for some scenes.

To me the whole point of a minimal challenge is to learn camera skills. Figure out how to take such a photo without editing and have it look good.
I'd like to shoot something for this. But anything out my house windows would just plain suck. Parking lot on both ends. My work windows are just as bad. Besides site security would get all worked up if they saw me with a camera. The only other option would be from my car window. We'll see.

but... you have more time to shoot because you don't have to process!!!

Yes, the 'of' is dropped. It's common American dialect. Certainly not the Queen's English!
Just wanted to point out the challenge description does not read that the window has to be in your house, so any business, vehicle, work or office related window will suffice to meet the challenge. As long as you can prove it's your favorite.
