I know the challenge say to add the 3 words having the letters DPC but can you add more?
Example: If mine is screaming for a tag line will I get dinged for adding it?
Can I add the word "the" as in The D____ P____ C____?
The creative problem solving group I run for the school district operates under the theory of "If it doesn't say you can't, then you can." But this seems to be a pretty anal group about those kinds of things.
I think your example would be just fine. If the amount of text got out of hand, the voters might not take kindly to it. If it got to the point tht it pretty much WAS the image, that would be quite another issue, IMO.
What about the design of the text? I am thinking of putting two layers of directional blur behind the text to give the text the same feeling as the photograph. Is this too much manipulation? Are the "anti-digital art" crusaders going to naill me?
I really don't see what all the misunderstanding is. The first time I read the details (and everytime after that), it said to name your submission D_____P_____C_____ and the extra rules clearly state that you may add text.
I was going to add (a whole bunch of) text to my photo whether people like it or not. That's my take on it. I have a design approach in mind which is appropriate for this challenge.
