Not sure if anyone of you have noticed but when I see a RAW picture in Canon DPP and apply some sharpness, it shows a good Sharpness with contract but as soon as I do batch conversion and keep the pixel/cm to 350 (default) the converted picture looses the sharpness. I tried to bump the pixel/cm to up to 2000 but same thing I noticed.
Does anyone of you have seen this behavior or I am one of the unique in the world? :)
Have not had any such issues. What version of DPP are you using? I have v 3.10.1.0. The last several revisions have an unsharp mask as well as the sharpness that previous versions had. I much prefer unsharp mask. Sharpness actually applies a sharpening pattern to the image that I don't care for. USM is much better. If you have an old verision, I recommend upgrading.

I have the latest and greatest version and have for a few months. I too have noticed that when I export the RAW edit out to Photoshop that the photo loses the sharpness at least to some extent. It's one of those things that I have on my to do list to figure out, but haven't gotten around to it yet.
It seems to retain it if I export out to a tiff or jpeg file, but not when I export to Photoshop....odd.
Thought I read somewhere that this is a Photoshop issue in that PS expects you to do something, thus the "softness" if you will...I'll see if I can find the thread.

Oh, that would be great if you can find that Kat. I'll watch for it. :)
I noticed that if I use a slider just before I batch-process, whatever I did with the slider doesn't get saved and applied during the conversion. I always touch the curves somewhere before I batch-process because that somehow saves what I do to the sliders.
I find this happening in my post processing regimen too. If I bump up a raw file sharpness using the raw tab, I typically go to the RGB tab and apply even more sharpness. When I convert to JPG I lose the sharpness. I did upgrade and did not check to see whether the same thing happens using unsharp mask. As a quick fix I typically have to go back and pump the sharpness up on my jpg's and it works nicely.
