I've been using 35mm more and more lately but my camera is on it's way out.
I currently have a Pentax Super ME with a 50mm 1.7 & a 28mm 2.8
I'm looking to upgrade to the best possible SLR for me so the choice is huge!
So far I've narrowed it down to:
Nikon FM3a
Nikon F3
Nikon FE
Is there any others that you would recommend I consider? I've used the OM4ti so may consider that but is there anything form Canon or even Leica I'm missing?
I'm looking on getting the camera tomorrow from a used dealer so I can handle the camera before I buy it.
Since you a Canon for digital what about a EOS1V instead of those Nikons... maybe the RS to get a little bit of difference. Let you use all your lenses and some great bodies with AF to rival modern cameras. EOS3 would also be a great choice and some have the eye focus point thingi to play with.
If you want old old... I am having a lot of fun with an old Yashica TLR..... cost me all of $30. It's hard to say why a TLR is so fun... damned if I know but it gets the camera away from your face and that makes it interesting for some reason.
Edit: Sorry... had the screen cached so missed your want for something away from electronic. How about a nice Canon AE? or grab one of the 60's rangefinders - Yashica made a lot or canonite or take your pick.

I'll have a look over the EOS's tomorrow and I read about the eye focusing the other day and it sounds amazing but I really want an all metal manual/auto camera. Don't really want autofocus.
I've had a Yashica Mat, they are great but I want an SLR right now.
I think the Nikon FM3a is my favorite so far, I like its hybrid shutter...

I dont think the Canon AE's are as good as the Nikon's I have listed and as they use a different lens mount to my Canon it wouldn't make much difference having it over a Nikon.
I have considered a rangefinder, but I'm not sure if I'd like them straight away as it would take some getting used to having never used one before.

Yeah... should have made that clear an AE does NOT reuse the EOS mount... although a lot of great glass at reduced prices around the place [although seems some of it is going up in value :shrug:]. You would have to get lenses for it or the Nikon either way.
Better / Worse... It's in the eye of the beholder.... The best thing about film is that the body is far far less in the path of image quality then digital (I say less not at all... the pro ones hold film flatter and more consistently, some are more/less proned to oil on the curtain or wearing out light filters e.t.c.) - it's just less important. If your after an SLR style then those Nikon's would be fun.
RF are fun as well and really worth a shot... add to you list for next experiment :-)
I LOVE film lever - there is something I cannot explain about using that again after the digital or even the recent film SLR's, so I understand the concept.... I pull out older bodies to run a roll thru every now and then. Just do NOT pick up blah blah 100ASA film... go for something fun :-)

I don't know if you've considered the Pentax MZ-S, (as it was a little behind the top end film bodies from Canon and Nikon), but if you don't need the fps then it has everything else and you could still use your current Pentax lenses.

ETA: I also bought a Jupiter 8 50mm f/2. $35ish. Also Rangefinder Forum is a great source for used gear, as is Fred Miranda's site.

I think the Jupiter 8 is going to be my first lens, before I start getting the "real" lenses in. I am just waiting for my RF forum account to be activated :)
