I had a question for all the photographers here, but I didn't want to hijack the post the post-your-website thread.
This isn't meant to be derogatory towards anyone, it's just me as a designer trying to understand this industry (and the people in it) a little bit better.

With all that said: With all the problems associated with flash websites, why do so many photographers choose that route? Is it the animation aesthetic?

I think it's all the fancy animations and tricks you can do to create something really different am unique. But at te end of the day, these overly fancy website aren't ideal for showcasing work. Art gallery's rarely have fancy walls?

JavaScript/HTML5/CSS3 will replace flash for a lot of photography website in a not so distant future.
The problem now is that you need good programming skills to use JS framework and to do a good job with it.

Not a big fan of flash sites. But I think this is a wonderful example of one.

It's incredibly quick to load the images.

I agree with keyz' opinions about flash in photography websites. jquery facilitates and enables a lot of things without flash. The only thing is that it can be a little slow (loading times I mean).

There is really no reason that JS would be slower than Flash to load : as it is a native component of each browser, I think JS performance (loading and running) are better than flash.
The current problem is that people are not used to make nice and clean JS programs and keep the bad old programming way to put little pieces of JS code inside a HTML website.
