Hello all,
I am getting into flash more and more these days. Right now i'm really liking the underexposed background look, but I am having trouble achieving this. I am shooting with a Nikon D300 and my 70-200mm f2.8 lens. I'm going to say what I think is hindering my effect in the first place to save you all reading time. I'm using a Nikon SB-800 Flash, on manual, my camera is also on manual and i'm shooting in daylight... I'm assuming that the small flash unit isn't powerful enough to underexpose the background with the sun still out as the sun is a more powerful light source?...
If I am wrong... here are the settings I was playing with:
Flash on 1/1 ratio ( Full Power)
Shutter 1/250th
Aperture 2.8
ISO 100
I'm getting some underexposure but not quite what i'm looking for.
I'm a HUGE fan of Zack Arias and I have watched his " One Light DVD" a million times but I don't seem to get the effect he gets from it... any suggestions?
OH YES.. and i'm using a westcott 60" umbrella reflected as well... |
