Received 2 more SPAM PMs this morning. It seems like it's happening 3 or 4 times a week now. And for some reason, they feel like they have to send it multiple times. :(

Yep, me too. Do you think it's because some of us are more actively posting than others? Or it's the people online at a certain time? I've had a few in the last couple of days.
I got one too. You would think a spammer would realize that members of a single forum would know each other and talk about it. Perhaps it's a bot, but I'm not sure if a bot could get through the registration process. Why do they bother?
Although I hate the damn things, Langdon may want to integrate CAPTCHAs into the messaging system. Perhaps, one benefit of a paid membership could be a lack of CAPTCHAs.
There seems to be several open source CAPTCHA projects.
Not going to be much longer until bots can decipher captchas with reasonable accuracy.
Agreed, but CAPTCHA technology tries to stay ahead of the game, and does so with some success, which is why "companies" often hire human solvers from developing countries.
I know a fellow named Derwood. He is in his early forties, lives alone, socially awkward, a little bit heavy-set, and really has very few friends outside parents and sibs. I wouldn't say he's slow exactly, but in a fast conversation, he'll sometimes come up with a comeback line, several sentences after the conversation has moved on.
He treasures email like this. It's the only email he receives that starts out "My Dear,' or "Dearest One". When he composes his replies, he has plenty of time to edit and re-edit them to get them just right. And when read at normal speed, he sounds smart, coherent, sometimes even a little bit funny.
He has a collection of photos these emailers have sent him, framed, in color, and sitting on his piano.
Perhaps the Sonia's of the world are helping the Derwood's of the world, raising their self esteem, giving them something positive to look forward to when they start AOL each morning after their breakfast cereal.
Next time you receive SPAM like the OP's, before you blast back or throw it away, take a moment to think about Derwood.
