I just got my 1st digital camera,it's a Sony mavica CD500. Does any one have any advice on getting started? I'm not the best at tech. stuff.Will I be happy with this camera?
For the first while just put everything on Auto setting and just get used to taking pictures, framing etc without having to worry about apature or focusing, white balence, blah blah. Use it as a Point and Shoot until you have a comfortable feeling between your eye and the camera. Feel it out and take LOADS of pictures, the more often you use it the more you will become familiar with your camera, all cameras are different so my initial advice is to set everything to automatic and shoot shoot shoot.

The CD500 is a fantastic camera. My dad has one - he bought it after he saw how much I enjoyed my CD400 (the predecessor to the CD500). You have all the manual controls you want, and in the CD500 (unlike the CD400), the auto white balance is pretty good, and even pure blue sky images come out with pretty much no noise. It's a great camera. Congrats, and enjoy. Read the manual - you'll get a good idea of the features. Then, as alionic says, just shoot a ton of pictures. Good luck!

Also, perhaps reviewing past challenges, seeing how people interpret them, frame and execute their shots, and trying out the old challenges for yourself is a cool way to practice too.
