Okay...I have just installed CS5. When using a brush of any kind I can see the circle when the brush is small. But as I increase the size of the brush it only shows me the top arc of the brush....is this something that can be turned off so I can see the entire circle?
I've never seen that behavior, except to the extent that a brush larger than the image won't show the whole circle if the image is maximized. That can't be what you mean, so I have no idea.

ETA: you have a number of brush options in preferences, but none of them seem to promote the behavior you have described.
I've never seen that behavior either. I see the whole circle of the brush in CS5 when using either my mouse or my Wacom Bamboo Pen and Touch. That's odd...
Here's another question for the CS5 gurus....I often have images open in CS and I will drag another image into CS. Now with CS5 it will try to add it as another layer in Free Transform mode to whichever image is open. How can I make it so it opens the new image as an independent image instead of trying to merge it onto another image?

That frustrated me as well with CS5. It was a new feature added that allows you to drag and drop files from the new mini-bridge into a document as a layer. Hence the free transform option showing up.
To avoid this, when you drag a file from your desktop into Photoshop CS5 DO NOT drag and release it into the document window. You have to release it in the tab section above the workspace and it will open as a new tab.

This sounds like a opengl/driver issue. Do you have opengl enabled in PS?
Also, what happens when you hit the caps lock key?

Easy. Just drag it into the empty space where the title of the open documents are located (i.e. the grey strip below the main and tool option menu). When you drag something in that area it should show a blue bar, similar to when you reattach a free floating document or menu palette.

That does sound like a RAM or graphics card issue. I think I've seen that happen before on my old system running a prior version of photoshop. Are any other programs running when you observe this behavior? Does giving Photoshop more RAM to use change anything?
