I'm not getting how we're supposed to enter/title our images. If we use the image #/title of the image we're "improving", we lose anonymity. If we don't identify the prior image, voters will not be able to tell if it's "improved". Am I missing something...???
I don't think the voters are supposed to see how you improved. Just vote on the current image... and from there, you can see if you've improved. I predict there will be a lot of post-challenge comments in this challenge with comparison comments.
One thing which will help the post-challenge discussion will be to post a thumbnail/link to the original entry you are re-shooting in the photographer's comments area.
I think you can either give your entry the same title as the original, or else the topic of the original challenge (the "default title" for all "untitled" images).

I see no problem with people recognizing the entry. Some challenges almost seem to be meant for that (signature style, for instance). This is specifically about redoing an image -- there's a good chance that we'll recognize a number of them.

DPC doesn't DQ if your subject matter doesn't meet the challenge requirements -- just look at all the races for the brown.

Usually not but under extra rules for this challenge "Extra Rules: Your entry must be taken this week and be a reshoot of one of your own entries". Break the rules and it may end up DQed in my opinion too.

Does it have to be the same scene? Or is it an FS within the topic of the challenge? I mean can I reshoot for an old challenge from scratch while using the comments as a guideline for improvement?

I'm no expert, but my take is that you need to reshoot the same "subject" whatever that may have been. Maybe put it in a different location, shoot from a different angle, whatever, but make sure it's the same subject.

A new subject. or a better interpretation of the challenge may be completely different.

You are not re-shooting for the previous challenge, that's irrelevant. You are re-shooting the picture. It should have the same subject, not something completely new. This is of course, my opinion and nothing more, but I think most people see it the same way. Improve the original entry is exactly the way it's worded ("Pick one of your own (non-ribbon winning) past entries and improve upon it based on the comments you received.").

What if the whole problem with the image was that the subject sucked? Then should you find a similar subject that just happens to be more photogenic and then apply everything else you've learned?

DNMC shouldn't come into voting as it is grounds for disqualification. Due to anonymity, this is something that can only really be proven after voting ends.

A quick look through your profile shows you have a number of landscapes, some animal shots & some set up shots too. Why not pick one of those and make it easier on yourself? Just my opinion, but of the sports shots, I'd think if you at least shot the same sport as the one in a particular challenge, then who the person is probably wouldn't matter.
I love this challenge.
Just a quick survey to see how many people will change the title of their entry, I want to, because it will better fit my photo !
Just going back to the original "Take II", some members changed their title and others didn't so I think it should be OK.
I'm basically keeping my title. I feel that if someone wants to look up the old entry to look at the comments and see how well I did at improving, that could be a good thing.
