Hi All,

I am quite happy with my shots which I take during day time with proper lights, but as soon as I try to get some shots in a closed room (for eg. A Banquet Hall with few yellow lights), all my shots appear very dark ,and which arent so easy to correct in any image editing software.

Well, to those who uses Sony DSC P30, whenver I try to take such shots, a red light appears which is near to the LCD.

Can someone find out what could be the reason for this problem.

Did you fire the flash?

When you did, the subject was probably to far away for the flash its power. Result= very underexposed, the ccd didn't capture anything but darkness. The flash on this kind of camera is only good up to three metres or so.

When you didn't, the shutterspeed was to short. Out of the camera's range.
When I remember the P1 correctly (flash is turned off on that one) the red light signals about the state of the flash.

Try a tripod and turn the flash off when you use the flash. Try to use a night program when possible. Sometimes it (night programm) will override auto-iso choise and stay at ISO100. That is less noisy than IS0300.
