(it is a bit hard to get the answer from looking at the previous challenge as some of the entrants profiles are no longer in use)
Are we allowed to enter photos that were DQ'd?
I am assuming that we have to enter the picture under the same title as it was before, is that not a bit of a give away as to who entered the image?

You must take a new photo for this challenge. So you can work off of a DQ'd photo (take a brand new photo). But if you enter a re-edited version of an old one, that would be another DQ. This goes for non-DQed photos as well. This challenge is to take a new photo of one of your old entries.
Ok, I didnt quite mean it that way!
Is it seen as meeting the challenge description (all be it old and in need of updating!) to enter a "new" photo of a DQ'd image or should we just stick with the images that recieved enough comments to make us realise where we went wrong?
Surely the voters will again be voting on the image as not everyone is familiar with every image that has been entered into every challenge?
To me, I think any entry (DQed or not) is valid as a "source." In fact, a DQed image is your chance to re-do the photo in a non-DQable way, which I would probably jump on if I had a DQ.
Note that I'm sure there will be a number of voters who will try to hunt down the originals and see how you improved.
This sounds really cool. I look forward ot going through my old entries (and the memories) almost as much as the shooting.
+1 esp as I have literally a full year's worth of non-ribboning entries to choose from!!! Should be a fun take on what is essentially a free study. Just a self-plagiarizing one :-0
Although I have been here for a while (7 months) I am still unclear on Advanced Editing rules. If I have 2 images of the same scene, say 2 people, and want to use a face of one person from one capture and another from the second capture and combine them in Photoshop (i.e. I will have bits and pieces of 2 captures of the same frame) is this allowed under this rule:
"You may: [..] use layers, layer masks, and alternative layer modes." ?
Nope...cant to it....if you use two photos they have to be exactly the same...no changes in scene at all.

I rarely use the big size in challenges. Why? Because when I'm voting I tend to get aggravated when I have to scroll to see the whole photo.

I don't have that problem. I use firefox and a DPC mod from here that autimatically pushes the image to fill the page without scrolling. It is one of the best mods on there. I like the profile pic under names mod too. Helps me to easily identify people.

One thing to watch out for is that displaying the image at anything other than native screen resolution will degrade the image quality badly.

The option I use only scrolls to the top of the image as far as I can tell. It does not affect anything else. It's basically an automatic scroll wheel.
You would never know if someone is just using this as a free study for a completely new picture. Who's going to sit there and check to see the previous entry that matched it. There are tons of images saved on this site and a DNMC is not grounds for a DQ is it?
