If you like wonderful, historic architecture, try the central west end near the cathedral. Some amazing old houses, even one that T.S. Eliot lived in for a time.
The arch is pretty cool as long as your not too claustrophobic (very tight carriages that take you up). Cameras were everywhere. The thing I remember was the windows were pretty grubby/hazey to shoot through though. Still great views!

yes you can take pictures at the top of the Arch...it's wonderful...allow time to go through the extensive museum at the base of the Arch...it is very interesting if you like history
St. Louis/Missouri Botanical Gardens- By far one of the best botanical gardens I've ever been to...it is well laid out and stunning. Lots of Chihuly Glass there when I was there the last time...
A must on the menu list is Crown Candy Kitchen they have the most amazing sandwiches...if you like BLT's they have one that will give you a heart attack!!! And their ice cream is made on site and it's the "old fashion" ice cream parlor feel and portions!!! VERY SMALL BOOTHS!!!
There is a wonderful German Wine Valley North of St. Louis, if you want more information on this I have it...it's well worth the day trip for this!!
You also have the very best Italian food in the "Hill District"...amazing food...can give you restaurant names as well
Loads and loads of stuff...one of the most interesting Bellefontaine Cemetary I've ever been to is there...they even have a guide book...well worth spending time there...
The Arch does allow photos, bring a cloth or something with you to wipe the windows...the are very thick and some don't shoot through well, others do.
There are a couple of spots across The River (in Illinois) to shoot the downtown skyline/arch at sunset. Most are public access to boat ramps to the river.
If the Cards are in town, you could catch a game at Busch Stadium. There is some street art on the flood walls downtown. There are some fountains/parks downtown near Union Station. I have heard the helicopter tours are awesome, but I haven't been. Lambert International Airport has a couple of cool spots to photo planes or the runways all lit up at night.
August A. Busch Wildlife area has a lot of opportunity for deer, birds, maybe a fox or coyote. Grant's Farm and St. Louis Zoo are both free (pay ~$10 for parking, or park close by and walk right in). Botanical Gardens has tons of flowers, sculptures, and fountains.
Couple of old cemeteries, and plenty of architectural shooting in Central West End, Downtown, etc. Lafayette Square has a nice, small park surrounded by very well kept Victorian style houses. Cool old streets at Laclede's landing. Plenty of people there or in Soulard's pubs if you want to people watch.

Neil you have to go the the Crown Candy Kitchen...it's not far from downtown...maybe 2/3 miles....sooooo worth cking out!!! if you get there during the wk and there's a long line it usually goes fast as many are just "picking" up...
Probably been too warm for any fog, but early morning might be a good time to visit Jefferson Barracks Cemetery. From downtown take 55 South to 255 East, then take the Telegraph exit and it is just North of the highway.
