Isn't there a more subtle way to deal with edits of comments and forum posts? It would be nice to fix a typo or add clarification without having the timestamp of absentmindedness branded so prominently to the message. I'm not saying it shouldn't be there at all. But a lot of times, it takes up more space than the message itself. Maybe smaller text and/or something in light gray? Just a thought...

I think we should be able to do that right up until the next post. Is it possible to check whether someone has hit the 'quote' button and is composing a post?
A no subsequent post AND a no open quote condition should allow us to edit without the time stamp thing.
Failing that, a time window would be better than the current situation.

As much as I *need* this feature myself, it is really rendered unnecessary if one simply uses the "Preview" button provided below the text composition field, right next to the "Post" button ...

Yeah and we would all save time by reading instructions..... I think a short grace period is a good way to deal with it BUT it will cause issues where someone quotes something within the grace period... Might be more of an issue on the rant board hey :-)
