A fantastic shot once... maybe twice, but that set up became as repetitive as the numerous aurora shots. Seems winning becomes the target some times not photography.
I hold no bad personal feelings towards any one so do not get me wrong, but we have seen this shot win twice before and I say it's time to find something new.

Take it easy please. It is just my opinion of having the same set up of a photo done once and once more for ribbon purpose. It is not you or your photo it's the concept. It's a great photo and if it helps

Just looked at your top shots Juliet and you know what is really cool....you have the 4 elements represented! Air is first, then Water, then Fire, followed by Water again and finally you have Earth. Nice line-up:-)
Bummer about your DQ it is a great shot and the jewel tones of the water is what helps make it captivating.
Second, really though, two of this shot on your front page is enough, you "OWN" this style as much as Lallisig owns aurora and beautiful Icelandic chicks.

Ahhh, don't let him get you down. You certainly hadn't reached the level some here have. I mean I've seen enough shots of some kids that I'd recognize them on the street. Same with certain self-portraits. And as much as I love water drops...........
It surely is fantastic to be recognized as a great photographer - I left a bewildered remark on the JulietNN picture also - but let's not discard the comment about striving for something new as much as we can, at least on this site.
Let's get out of our comfort zone - sounds like a cliche, but I believe we are here and participating in challenges on various themes exactly to try our eye, brain, hand and mind at new things.
PS. That's valid for all the water drops, glasses, flowers, blurry pics ....... - unless we try something ELSE with them also, which I do not think was the case of the Shotglasses, challenge posted as "A creative alternative to wine glasses!"
Well, the next time I get the urge to drive 9 hours to the beach from the desert, hoist myself into a wet suit and body float/dive for 6 hours in the ocean, then drive 9 hours home and edit for an average of 2 hours per picture, I will remember not to put them out there, as they are repetitive.

I think they are fantastic and hope you keep putting out your great work. And everything is basically repetitive, that is the nature of photography. I don't think it takes away from the greatness of the photo.
strange idea about 'repetition' and 'comfort zones' Not something you would say about Warhol and his soup cans or Monet's lillies or Van Goghs sunflowers, all themes that the artists returned to repeatedly. (not that back-lit wine glasses are at that level...)

Let's see. I think I capture a lot of repetitive subjects. So much so, I'm often spotted (with subsequently applied voting bias) for recognized content and style. I have no intention of changing my location, nor shifting subject material because some DPC members have seen my work in the past. My goal is to improve presentations and interpretations of "my world".
