I have a standard TV with two places to connect components (one in front, one in back) using the red, white and yellow plugs. The picture and sound are still great. Currently connected are my cable TV, a DVD player/burner and a well-used Playstation 2. I've also got a disconnected Gamecube and VHS machine. Nothing is wireless. My laptop is connected to the internet by a cable through cable TV (it plugs into a little box by Toshiba that I think came from my cable company).
I'm finally buying a Playstation 3. Someday I'll get HDTV, but for now I need to connect the PS3 to my old TV. I would like to keep some of my old components connected. And I want to connect to the PS3 Network and maybe do some onine gaming (as soon as Sony recovers from its recent hacking), which I think means a wireless router is best, correct?
Can someone give me some advice on how to do all this? Do I want some sort of switchbox? Do I need to get cable TV to supply a different kind of box? I've Googled for info but it's pretty confusing - the answers either don't fully apply or are over my head.
