Here's a link to an article about the photographer who did the formal portraits for the wedding. I like it that his mother (age 71 -- I can relate to that!) is part of his team.
I'm guessing the stopwatches were for keeping track of the overall allocated time with them, as well as the allocated time for accomplishing each shot. Pretty clever, actually, in a situation like that. Clearly he did a LOT of preparation.
Hmm...so they had 2 photographers then. I was watching part of the wedding and as Kate was getting in the car prior to going to the church, there was a female photographer doing the photos in and outside of the car, with an assistant tidying the dress. I wonder who she was?

Agree with Rob 100% - you can`t go quirky on shots like these - beautifully arranged and the lighting is perfect. Great set of official shots - remember, these will be in the history books for a very long time. I daresay the arrangements were planned out way in advance.
