The results of the "Edward Weston" challenge have been recalculated, due to the disqualification of the former blue ribbon winner for a date violation. Congratulations to the new ribbon winners.
Note that there are still voting anomalies that we will be addressing soon. However, given this was a clear DQ and it was taking us long than originally anticipated to act on those, we went ahead with the DQ.
I think the whole challenge should be taken down until the challenge is recalculated. It's not fair to the current ribbon winners or the potential ribbon winners, to have a ribbon and then have it taken away once the recalculation takes place.
I'm surprised there isn't something in the challenge rules that doesn't specify that when widespread voter fraud it suspected the challenge results will be pulled until things are sorted out. Maybe there is and I just don't see it. If not it sounds like its time for a revision. Unfortunately this probably won't be the last time it will happen, and it would be nice to have a set procedure in place for when it does.
The challenge has been recalculated again after and 2,100 votes and 3 entries have been removed. As a reminder, please follow the Voting Rules and all Challenges Rules, specifically the following two statements:
- You may not offer or cast biased votes for any other user.
- You may not hold more than one DPChallenge account, ask anyone to vote on your behalf, or link to your entry’s voting page.
Should anyone wish to challenge our findings, please contact us. We have made errors in the past so we took extra care to double and triple check our findings before acting and feel we have made the right decisions.
I knew I'd get on the fp when they DQd the portrait, but had no idea my score would also be affected. And I "only" had about 5 ones... Congrats to all the new front page denizens.
What a massive, fascinating, frustrating experience. Glad it's over. And thank you SC for working so hard to figure it all out.
For everyone else, I guess the lesson is that no system is foolproof, but if we remain united as a community, any such setbacks will clearly be temporary.
Thanks SC
I'm happy to finally get that elusive Ribbon but sorry for vawendy that she lost out.
Not sure why the previous 4th place was DQ'd - didn't appear that she was involved with the voting scandal. I was sure she would end above me after the recalculation.
Thanks SC

You're so kind! Don't give it a second thought! I knew that if the votes were recalculated, that I'd probably lose even the top ten. But I still PMd a couple of SC and Langdon asking for a recalculation, as did many others, I'm sure. This was entirely the right thing to do. And I'm very glad to see such great results! :D
Glad this is over. More glad that the rightfull people got their ribbons. Sad that others had false placings and now is placed further down when there was much joy to them initially. Hope this can be avoided somehow in future. Congrats to all. I must admit that I'm wondering if i am not more confused now than before how in the world my shot moved up though it did not have that many 1s.

Not only did it scrub low votes, but it scrubbed high votes as well. So while you moved up score-wise, others also moved down score-wise, so that's why there were some big change-ups.
