Heyo- I'm shooting a wedding this summer with some celebrities and other famous people in attendance, and I was wondering if anyone has ever had to deal with this before? The bride is asking that I don't publish pictures of the famous folks in them (which is understandable). But, if I get awesome shots that are contest-worthy, do I just say 'oh well' and store them in the black hole that is my hard-drive, never to see the light of day again? It's in the contract that I can post them to my personal website, but what about the contests and other times I want to publish them??
I think you should have a phrase that you can use them for marketing purposes.... then stuff like a WPPI contest or whatever is marketing. Don't see the issue really.....
I think you are playing with fire. You'd probably be fine, but then what if you win the contest and it gets a lot of publicity and the celebrity decides to raise a snit? Even an hour discussion with a lawyer is likely to erase any winnings you gained from your contest. It also seems like you are relying on the fine print of your contract while you verbally tell your client not to worry about the celebs in attendance.

That's perfect! I'm new to wedding contracts, so trying to find a way to say that was proving to be a little more difficult than it probably should have been. She's being a little overprotective of her guests, but that's a perfect way of wording it.
On the other hand you can sell the pics to tabloids and the fees would probably be way more than any contest winnings. Just don't expect ot do any more weddings with celebrities. :)
