Yes, I am struggling with the current challenges - I am not into portraits (Librodo is great though!), there isn't much of Urban Nature here (I am not in an urban area at the moment), so I am left with a water bottle, holding it tightly, while waiting for inspiration! :)
I’m afraid that if I was to try and enter this challenge I would only insult Manuel. However, I do love his work and this may be enough to pull me out of my self imposed sabbatical from DPC less than one day in (first time since entering challenges that I have not had an image in voting or one ready for upcoming challenges – feeling withdrawal symptoms already). I’ll definitely be voting though as this should be great!

Oh man. When the challenge came out, I thought "Cool, I could at least try this"
But the more I look at his pictures, the more intimidated I get, and the more I feel like I couldn't possibly pull off a good image.
I wish I had a smidgeon of his talent. (incidentally I also wish I had actual lights and models :-P)

I believe many of his portraits are natural light; no flash, no reflectors.
No flash is correct, but he has been using reflectors in his more recent work. But you are correct, he started off his photography career with pure natural light and nothing else.
Come on you guys! Try it at least. I know NOTHING about taking portraits, lighting, OR advanced editing, but I'm going to attempt to learn as much as possible before the challenge and see what I come up with. Just try!

Also, keep in mind that tremendous amount of post-processing work goes into every single one of his shots. You still definitely need to start off with a great image, but pictures don't come out of cameras like that :) Skin, eyes, enhanced make-up, dodge/burn, adding artificial directional light if there wasn't one in the original shot already, and much more is done in post-processing for every one of his shots.

Oh man, I might actually just make this work.
I had decided earlier that I wouldn't participate in this challenge, but then I was thinking about it and thought "But it would be nice to shoot some portraits again. Maybe next week." So I sent out an email to some friends offering a free photoshoot, telling them any time they could make it in the next week would work for me (Its finals week here abouts and this time I only have essays due that one submits online). Well, now I have two shoots lined up on Tuesday of all days. Meaning, I might just be able to edit one in time to submit it for the challenge.
We shall have to see! Its going to be stressful
