Many millions of people on this planet can only dream of having the freedoms and opportunities we have in our United States of America.

Tsk, tsk. I thought this was one of the easier challenges we've had in a while. Shoot a bird in flight, anything with a broken chain, a family planning clinic, graduation (throwing up mortarboards), a protest rally, a voting machine, an open gate, a wild animal, a Winnebago or tent, Walden Pond, a glider, any minority (or even a woman) in a business suit, a swimming hole, a kite... geez, this is too easy!

I think why many are having trouble coming up with an idea is because there is a patriotic association with the challenge theme. Think outside the box. Discard any ideas of "conventional" freedoms associated with history, patriotism, and nation states. It's very easy to come up with ideas once the notion of liberty bells, fireworks, and flags is purged from your head. : )

Well gee, why not go to your nearest China Town, or any other ethnic community in any large city and you'll find people who are not sad Americans but happy to be here, because they no longer live under oppressive dictatorships, etc.

First I do not think that this challenge is centered around flags or country. This is like a liberal assignment. When one thinks of freedom, who else in the globe is the leader. Of couese the USA.
So this challenge is to ferret out those other freedoms not associated with flag and country. Sort of generic freedom. Of course, USA freedom is at the apex of this equation but we are not to rub it in or mention it in this challenge. Bet hey, a challenge is a challenge. get creative.
I think one of the best ideas to keep in mind for the freedom challenge (and photography in general) is to think simple! Think of some of the simple little things that comes with freedom.
