I hope I've been here long enough to have the liberty to plug a great book for a friend. I don't gain anything by this, just trying to be helpful. I figured there may be some graphic artists here that might find this useful.
Smashing Magazine has just added to it's bookstore a new book that should be very valuable to graphic designers. The Big Book of Font Combinations, written by Doug Bonneville of Bonfx, is an ebook (pdf, kindle, nook, ipad), which provides sample pages of popular font combinations in various formats and configurations. This enables the designer to quickly find the best looking font pairing for his projects by simply thumbing through the preset pages. The book is getting good reviews by many graphic designers. I hope someone finds this useful. (you can also get this book directly from Doug's site, I think he makes a couple bucks more that way.)
edit to add: he also has a simpler version as an iphone app.
