OK, I'm in with the first entry. Seeing as how my current conservatively PP'd entries on other challenges are doing so badly, I've pushed the processing to stupid levels in this challenge. Let's see what folks of this one! :-)

Well, your point is well taken, based on a non-nuanced read of the challenge description. I do think it's meant that image submissions should epitomize the concept, without necessarily carrying the exact title, "Sentinel". To title every image "Sentinel" would be a very literal read, and I think it was meant to be conceptual. Being a risk-taker, my image meets the challenge, but has a unique title.

Like most challenges, the subject should bring to mind, in general, the term "Sentinel". That could and should incorporate a wide range of subjects and concepts. This is not a narrowly defined challenge.

Whilst I agree with you on the *interpretation*, based on the challenge description, which encourages variety of approach IMO, I find it curious that the description goes on to say: Your challenge is to take the definitive shot entitled "Sentinel".
Based on that, it does appear to mandate "Sentinel" as a title, and so I expect some will deduct for alternate titles. Certainly, if I enter, I will title my image "Sentinel". Be crazy not to. Maybe add something after, maybe not, but at least start with that word.

Yes, I get your point. I did read that and understand that many will take the opportunity to deduct score wherever they can. Those with that mindset will also deduct for anything beyond the title, "Sentinel". I'll probably continue to take the chance to give a unique title to an image which meets the challenge. It is a photography contest, after all. If my good image is punished for the title, then I guess I'll learn a lesson.
i agree that we should all not be limited in imagination and creativity in entering any challenge. my concern is on the word "definitive". how much does it weigh to you? which is more definitive? something that is actually, literally, a sentinel or something that is merely a methapor or personification of a sentinel?

Speaking for myself....doesn't matter. I will give the same weight to either a literal sentinel or a personified sentinel. To me the both are within the spirit of the challenge and I will appreciate both. I'd wager that most members voting would feel the same way.
