Looks like Google search engine has been down for hours. Just wondered if it was just our little corner of the world?

google is ok but I'm seeing a lot of internal errors on other sites that rely on a database backend

Still no luck here in West Virginia... Strangely, Gmail is still working.

We get the following message t any attempt to get to Google...

The requested URL could not be retrieved

While trying to retrieve the URL: //www.google.com/

The following error was encountered:

Unable to determine IP address from host name for www.google.com
The dnsserver returned:

Timeout

Try rebooting or running a repair on the network connection... Sounds like corrupt DNS cache to me.

edit: try putting 74.125.227.50 in the browser, the ip of google, which your DNS is apparently not resolving

Looks like it is problem at local ISP. Others here are having same issue. When I go out on ATT cellular data, Google works. Through local broadband we are all having the same issue. All other search engines are working for everyone.

At least it's not some new horrible Internet worm or virus.

Have you tried OpenDNS or Google Public DNS. Safer, faster, more secure than my ISP DNS service.

I've had success fixing this at work merely by shutting the computer down so it can get updates.

i must have a trojan on my pc or something, every time i try to go to Google I get redirected to a site called "Gmmxle"
