I signed up at JPG Magazine a few years ago, but never got round to submitting anything until now. My photo has now been on-line for about two days and has only had four views. If nobody ever looks at photos, do they stand any chance of ever being published? If not, then I'd rather just continue submitting to challenges here and forget about putting photos on sites where nobody will ever see them.
You do understand that two days would include Christmas eve and Christmas day? How much time do you think people are spending on websites right now as compared to spending time with their families.
It's like Flickr, but generally higher quality overall. It's a popularity contest, and s/he with the most comments/votes gets published. If you don't work at it, you'll never get published. I've been on it a couple of years, and have submitted a bunch of stuff, but never pursued it, so I've never been published. My account there has languished and I don't know if I'll join again. I'm having too much fun here.

I'd actually disagree a bit. I had a photo published, and while it had a number of comments and favs, it was nowhere near the top. I was surprised out of the blue and they printed it as a double page intro to the section. The question in my mind is how much exposure it actually gets. It almost feels like those "who's who" books where you submit your name and get published, but nobody buys the book except those who get published. Has anybody even seen a copy in print somewhere?
I think I've seen the magazine here (in South Africa) too. None of the popular bookshops seem to stock it, but there is a bargain magazine shop that imports stuff specially and I think he has it from time to time.
This doesn't sound too promising, but I suppose the only way to find out for sure is to keep trying for a while.

I'm not sure that's the real problem. I've just searched for my photo under "Newest first" and it came up on page 41. If I struggled to find it, how many people are going to see it unless I go around begging for votes? And I don't know anybody who has a JPG account.
