Nine days left to get your Kodachrome to Kansas. After December 30, no lab in the world will process the stuff. I've got one, maybe two shots left, and then my first and last two rolls of Kodachrome go out the door this afternoon. My fear is that I'll get the stuff back and fall in love with it. Better to have loved and lost... ? So it goes shooting film.
Anyone else shooting (or just shot) the last of their Kodachrome?
I got mine from B&H early last summer (2009). By fall, most retailers had sold out of remaining stock.
I think eBay is anyone's last hope of getting their hands on the film at this late date. And wouldn't you know, there are lots of listings, many offering expedited shipping.
I shot the very last frame about half an hour ago, and I'm preparing the package now.
Crap... I think I still have an undeveloped roll for which I have no idea of the content. I guess I am going to have to see if I can get it in and processed under the deadline, or resign myself to never knowing what might be on there :-P
Sending it anytime this week USPS Priority should get it there. I'm sending mine FedEx Ground just because I'm nervous and it's only a few extra dollars.
Worse case, I believe there are crossprocessing options for Kodachrome. PM Tom Hart (tph1).
Ben, yes, I'll post a few. It's probably just as well this has no opportunity to become addicting. $45 to process and scan two rolls (with shipping). Crazy!
If it says it requires K-14 processing, you have until the 30th. Elite Chrome, if I'm not mistaken, is regular slide film (E-6 processing). So no pressure.
Ok, so, since that chapter of our book has been closed, does anyone have a line on software to get that Kodachrome look from our digital files without a lot of tinkering in Photoshop?
Someone may have experimented with cross-processing the K-14 film too. I think that the results would be somewhat hit or miss, or rather hit or mess.

No big deal...it's probably just the roll of film that proves who shot Kennedy. That's ok...just stick it in your drawer and forget about. Documenting history is not what it's all cracked up to be anway. :P

Kodachrome died due to lack of demand. The question becomes, is there really a good replacement, or is it that the population is just willing to settle...?
