I have both and I'd say the 5d MKII without even a pause. The images are just better looking. The 7D does all the technical stuff better than the 5D II but if image quality is paramount then it is an easy choice.
Having said all that - only go that way if you're prepared to continue to invest in the lenses necessary to support a full frame body - and I'd really only go with L series glass.
PM Ryan, aka Magnumphotography and ask him all the questions you like about the 5D Mark II. He freaking LOVES his.

Having seen what images Ryan has been getting with the 5D Mark II and his L series lenses, hell ya.
Money isnt a problem up to a single cam, getting two then yes it is, but if i had alot i would fork out for the 1d mk iv, but seeing as i wont have that much for a while, these are my only options, im slowly slipping towards the 7d..but..ahhhhh i dunno, can't they make one that does everything... hahaha
If you like the 8FPS and the full frame perhaps try a Nikon D700 with grip to give it 8FPS. I've toyed recently with moving to Nikon and getting a D3s and D700 as a second body.

Matt
How would it be able to do 8fps? I dont understand...

They do...it's called Nikon! ;-)
I may just consider nikon...
...as would I, for a paperweight :O)
Ray
And Canon can't even spell the name of their product right, as their stuff weighs as much as a piece of artillery! *Ignore him, hojop25, he's still upset that he couldn't get me to switch* :-p

D700 with grip and EN-EL3e battery gives it 8fps, as it does with the D300. D700 is FF, D300 is DX(crop factor).
Just buy the 5D and be done with it its a proffessional machine and will handle everything you throw at it so why ask? its ano brainer. while were at it should I buy a Box Brownie or a graphlex?to each his own.silly threads these are.

As long as you dont try to use any AF point except for the center one.. Once you have been spoilt with the AF of the 1D series, then going to anything else is painful (used a 5d2 at my last wedding - AF was no better than my 5D classic).
They really need to sort out the AF for the 5Dmk3.

I agree the AF on the 5D and 5DMKII is one of the poorest in Canon's lineup. It shares much of it with the Rebel/XXD series and is far from professional. This and only this is the reason I have owned and no longer own a 5D/5DII.
I just read that all nikon lenses are compatible with it too, is this true?
Whaaaa? Seeing that even the mounting system is different - Nikon mounts clockwise and Canon widdershins - there is just no frickin way that could ever happen. Or if it has actually happened (in which case Ryan would be all over it like a dirty shirt, and this info would be going viral) then that means the big C is weakening and really wants to be Nikon.
