Hey guys! I m new here. I just got my first Dslr. I got a question. Sometimes when i try to shoot a photo i push the button but nothing happens. If i zoom out a little bit, it shoots. Why is that?

Welcome Chris! Your DSLR probably has those red dots you see through the viewfinder - they are autofocus dots. Sometimes if you have selected a specific AF point and it does not find anything to focus on, it will not let you snap the pic. That's my guess anyway. Others might chime in with more plausible or technical answers. Enjoy your stay here.

You are probably too close to what you are trying to focus on.. like others have said, the camera hasn't focused. When you zoom out, the camera is able to focus and then take a picture. If you look on the front of your lens or the side, it should say how close you can focus (probably around 30-50cm away)
I tried the MF and it shoots everything! Thanx! The thing is that the pictures are blur if i don't let it AF first. How do i focus on MF?

You actually have to look through the viewfinder, dude. Spin your focus ring until it's in focus? Or change it back to autofocus and step back and let autofocus work?
The focus ring for the 18-55 is at the front of the lens. You need to switch from A to M first, this will give you manual focus. My wife motherlee has the D3000 and it is a good starter camera. I have taken photos with it, the D90 and the D300 and it compares well.
Get used to your camera, enjoy hunting for a good photo. Be prepared for harsh comments at times here and ask questions:)
