NASA Sets News Conference on Astrobiology Discovery
WASHINGTON -- NASA will hold a news conference at 2 p.m. EST on Thursday, Dec. 2, to discuss an astrobiology finding that will impact the search for evidence of extraterrestrial life. Astrobiology is the study of the origin, evolution, distribution and future of life in the universe.
But, until the embargo on the NASA story this week ends, we can't reveal what it is that the space boffins are going to announce. Now is surely the time for wild and colourful speculation, not dull scientific fact.
Well, that is very cool; I must admit I don't have a clue as to what they are announcing. I guess one could research the participants to see what their research foci are, might tell us something about what's up... or we could just be lazy and wait three days ;-)

Amen to that. Being able to "hear", albeit not very well, has changed a whole lot in MY life :-)
So, the announcement is rumored to concern a discovery related to arsenic-based biochemistry and its implications for life here on Earth and elsewhere.

The last thing the west needs is to stop funding basic science. This goes for theoretical physics, astronomy, astrobiology, climate science, you name it. The technology gained from this is what will drive our grandchildrens economy.
